The Jambo Africa festival returns for 2019 this weekend, bringing with it an exciting showcase of the amazing diversity of African cultures.

Hosted by the Organisation of African Communities WA, this family friendly festival, which will take place at Stirling Civic Gardens in Stirling, is a vibrant celebration of Africa featuring market stalls, music, dancing, fashion shows, arts and cultural performances.

There are more than 100,000 Africa-born people who call Western Australia home and who contribute their skills, knowledge and culture to the ongoing development of this State.

Jambo Africa, the biggest African festival in WA, is supported by the McGowan Government with $30,000 through Lotterywest, Healthway and the Office of Multicultural Interests.

Comments attributed to Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Paul Papalia:

"Western Australia is home to many communities who have originated from all over the vast continent of Africa and who have all helped make this State the dynamic place it is today.

"The countries of Africa all have their own unique and rich traditions, culture and history and Jambo Africa is a great opportunity to experience a little of all of these cultures - all brought together in one place."
