    • Green cabinet at wastewater pump station along Hartung Street in Mundaring transformed through Splash of Colour program
    • Designed with the help of students from Mundaring Primary School

An ordinary looking green cabinet at a wastewater pump station along Hartung Street in Mundaring received a makeover on the weekend, courtesy of the Splash of Colour program.

The State Government, through the Water Corporation, runs the Splash of Colour Community Art Program to transform everyday water and wastewater assets into colourful creations that express the community's connection to water.

Artist Melski McVee worked with students from Mundaring Primary School last Friday to develop the design based on their connection with water and Mundaring Weir.

The school will be presented with a photo of the completed artwork at a special assembly on November 30, 2018 to recognise their achievement of 20 years of participating in the Water Corporation's Waterwise Schools Program.

The green cabinet in Mundaring was the 38th asset to be transformed through the Splash of Colour Community Art Program in WA. The program has received overwhelming positive feedback from the community.

Keep up to date on the results of the artwork on social media using #splashofcolourWA.

Comments attributed to Water Minister Dave Kelly:

"It is great to see the Water Corporation work with students from Mundaring Primary School to create the design for the green cabinet along Hartung Street.

"Teachers at Mundaring Primary School have been educating students about the value of water for 20 years, and it is great to see their input in the design of the artwork.

"Most young people understand that climate change is real, so educating them about where our water comes from and why we need to use our water wisely helps to nurture generational change.

"The Splash of Colour Community Arts Program continues to celebrate water and the important role it plays across Western Australia, while turning highly visible and functional infrastructure into beautiful community pieces of art."

Comments attributed to Kalamunda MLA Matthew Hughes:

"How wonderful to see art, water and education combined within Mundaring, I'm looking forward to seeing the final result.

"The Splash of Colour Community Art Program is a great initiative, beatifying necessary infrastructure and engaging our local community."
