- 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme supporting Peel-based cricket, hockey, netball, basketball, soccer and AFL associations
- State Government providing strong support to regional sport, in support of athlete development and stronger communities
Premier Mark McGowan took in some cricket action at Sir Ross McLarty Oval in Pinjarra today, where he announced a series of local grants for Peel-based grassroots sporting clubs.
Allocated as part of the State Government's 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme, six Peel cricket, hockey, netball, basketball, soccer and AFL associations will share in $72,500 of funding to support community sport in the region.
The commitment reflects the McGowan Government's strong support for grassroots sport in country areas - with local clubs in places such as the Peel region so often the foundation of their communities.
This funding support is also important to help Peel clubs continue their long tradition of developing quality local talent with potential to reach the elite level in their given sport.
The 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme (Peel) includes:
- Peel Cricket Board - $10,000;
- Peel Hockey - $10,000;
- Netball WA (Peel) - $15,000;
- Western Australian Basketball Federation (Peel) - $15,000;
- Peel District Football Development Council - $12,500; and
- Peel Regional Soccer Council - $10,000.
Successful applicants for remaining regions in the 2018-19 Regional Grants Scheme will be announced in the near future.
