    Premier Mark McGowan has today announced the winners of a State-wide school competition to commemorate the end of the Centenary of Anzac.

    The Premier's Student Competition 'Celebrating the end of the Centenary of Anzac', launched in March, invited students from Years 1-10 to creatively explore 100 years of social change in Western Australia.

    Entries included essays, poems, collages, dioramas, posters, paintings, timeline reports, short stories, letters and drawings. All entrants will receive a certificate, signed book and bookmark.

    Three independent judges, including representatives from the Returned and Services League Western Australia, a Humanities and Social Sciences teacher and a member of Parliament, selected the winners. Congratulations to:

    • Millie Clements, West Greenwood Primary School (Years 1-2);
    • Natasha Bobojcov, Rockingham Beach Primary School (Years 3-6);
    • Luke Newman, Safety Bay Senior High School (Years 7-8); and
    • Fatima Merchant, Perth Modern School (Years 9-10).

    The winners will be invited to tour State Parliament and meet with the Premier later this month.

    The competition is part of a suite of events and initiatives planned to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, including a web series 'Reflections on the Centenary' hosted by the Premier, a dedicated history teaching resource for primary and secondary schools, and a series of receptions for veterans.
