- New metropolitan appointment to the Magistrates Court of Western Australia
- Acting Information Commissioner Lisa Ward to fill the metropolitan position effective from July 16, 2018
- State Prosecutor Catherine Fetcher to replace Ms Ward as Acting Information Commissioner for a six month term
Attorney General John Quigley is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Ward as a magistrate of the Magistrates Court of Western Australia.
Catherine Fletcher, an experienced State Prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, will replace Ms Ward as the Acting Information Commissioner.

"Ms Ward was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1990, bringing to her new role many years of high quality legal experience gained in Perth and as a solicitor in London.
"She worked at the Australian Government Solicitor before becoming a Prosecutor with the Commercial Branch of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in 1997.
"For 14 years, Ms Ward was a member of the State Administrative Tribunal and the Migration Review Tribunal and Refugee Tribunal before becoming the Principal Assistant Ombudsman, Investigations and Legal Services.
"Her experience as a long standing tribunal member, with highly developed hearing and decision making skills, make Ms Ward eminently suitable for the role of a Magistrate.
"Ms Ward was recently appointed as the Acting Information Commissioner and will be succeeded in that role by Catherine Fletcher.
"Ms Fletcher was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1991.
"She has worked at the Youth Legal Service of WA in the position of Duty Lawyer at the Children's Court of WA, and at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in various capacities, including Principal Legal Officer and Senior Legal Officer. Ms Fletcher has also worked at the Legal Aid Commission as a Criminal Duty Lawyer.
"Since 2008, Ms Fletcher has been employed in various capacities at the Officer of the Director of Public Prosecutions including as a State Prosecutor.
"I congratulate Ms Ward and Ms Fletcher on their respective appointments and wish them well in their new roles."
