    • First time the Monash University road safety leadership program offered in WA
    • Western Australian leaders guided on Safe System approach to road safety

One of the world's most respected and comprehensive research institutes - The Monash University Accident Research Centre is running its Executive Leadership Management Program in Perth for the first time ever.

The three-day leadership program will hear from some of Australia's most trusted and respected road safety experts, and encourage delegates to consider new ways to approach road safety.

The program will guide participants through the Safe System approach, a system that accepts drivers make mistakes and looks at the design of roads, safe speed limits and vehicle design as a way of reducing road trauma.

It is expected participants in the program will share the information with their organisations, industry and communities to shift the way we think about road safety.

Comments attributed to Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts:

"I am pleased to welcome road safety experts of the calibre of the Monash University Accident Research Centre to Perth to share their wealth of knowledge with local leaders.

"As work continues on the next road safety strategy for Western Australia, we need leaders within our community to lead the paradigm shift required for zero road trauma.

"The MUARC Executive Leadership Management Program will provide WA leaders, not just within government but from not-for-profit organisations, the private sector and local government, with the tools to promote road safety within their own organisations.

"Zero road deaths and serious injury on WA roads is achievable and programs like the MUARC Executive Leadership Management Program are a crucial tool as we continue our journey."
