    • Community First International, Volunteer Task Force and Care Options merge to better serve 10,000 vulnerable people, thanks to a Lotterywest grant

Three important community organisations have merged to form Chorus Australia - bringing together almost 1,000 employees and volunteers in support of the aged care, disability and mental health sectors.

Seniors and Ageing Minister Mick Murray presented Chorus Australia with a $506,000 Lotterywest grant in Mandurah this week to assist with the amalgamation.

The organisations - Community First International, Volunteer Task Force and Care Options - will now operate together under the Chorus Australia umbrella, as part of moves to improve their ability to serve some of the community's most vulnerable.

The grant will enable the introduction of a new service model for a range of services to more than 10,000 people in need across the metropolitan, Peel and South-West regions.

The organisations will be fully integrated under the Chorus Australia umbrella by June 2018.

Comments attributed to Seniors and Ageing Minister Mick Murray:

"Organisations like Chorus Australia do such important work out in our communities, making sure those in need are able to live the best lives possible.

"By amalgamating under the Chorus Australia umbrella, service delivery will be improved for the 10,000 people in the aged care, disabilities and mental health spaces who rely on these important services.

"On behalf of the State Government, I thank Lotterywest retailers and those who play Lotterywest games who help us support initiatives like these."

Comment attributed to Mandurah MLA David Templeman:

"Our volunteers and community workers in Mandurah do such great work and I welcome this important announcement.  I look forward to working closely with Chorus Australia."
