    • Director of Liquor Licensing allows extended Easter Sunday trading for Western Australian bottle shops
    • Regional liquor stores can open from 10am to 10pm

Racing and Gaming and Small Business Minister Paul Papalia has welcomed a decision by the Director of Liquor Licensing to allow extended Sunday trading for regional Western Australian liquor stores over the Easter long weekend.

The move means business owners will not have to apply for an extended trading permit or pay any fees.

The decision allows regional bottle shops to open from 10am to 10pm on Easter Sunday.

Liquor stores that are located within Section 64 areas will still need to apply for extended trading hours but will not have to pay the application fee.

The Director of Liquor Licensing's notice has been published in the Government Gazette.

Comments attributed to Racing and Gaming and Small Business Minister Paul Papalia:

"I'm pleased with the Director's decision to gazette Sunday trading hours for regional liquor stores over Easter.

"It gives consumers the flexibility over the long weekend to purchase their liquor at a convenient time.

"The decision also reduces compliance and costs for many small businesses in this industry, giving them the freedom to trade in line with consumer demand.

"The McGowan Government welcomes the Director's approach as it reflects this Government's policy on balancing the responsible consumption of alcohol with the community's desire to enjoy Easter Sunday with family and friends.

"But balancing the views of all stakeholders, Sunday trading will not be progressed through the current liquor amendments before Parliament."
