Comments attributed to Fisheries and Science Minister Dave Kelly:

"Western Australia's $6.8 billion agriculture sector has huge potential to innovate by working with highly skilled scientists, researchers and international leaders.

"This program provides an opportunity for local companies to collaborate and learn from industry leaders across the world.

"As the State's Fisheries and Science Minister, I see huge potential in aquaculture for job creation in this State.

"In WA alone, aquaculture has the potential to create and support up to 8,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next 10 years."

Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

"We have to keep innovating in agriculture to keep our competitive edge in the global market; investment in research and development and entrepreneurialism is essential to the sustainability of our industries.

"These grants will help local innovators bring home world-leading technology, best practices and new ideas to WA's farms and fisheries.

"We would encourage any companies and individuals with fresh ideas from across WA to apply for this program."
