Families in Perth's flourishing suburbs of Wellard and Wandi are set to benefit from two new public primary schools.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today officially opened Wellard Primary School on Johnson Road and new facilities at Honeywood Primary School on Windjana Rise in Wandi.

The new $15.3 million Wellard Primary School includes an administration block with a dental therapy centre, an early childhood building, three general classroom buildings each with an outdoor classroom area, a library and a covered assembly area.

More than 320 students from kindergarten to Year 6 started the school year yesterday in their new school.

Honeywood Primary School first opened in 2017, a year ahead of schedule, for kindergarten and pre-primary students in temporary classrooms to meet high demand for schooling in the area.

With brand new permanent classrooms now complete, the school is home to more than 300 students from kindergarten to Year 6.

Honeywood Primary School has an administration building, library, five early childhood classrooms, 10 general classrooms, an inclusive education classroom, art and craft room, activity areas, a covered assembly area, canteen, music room and sports facilities.

It also features a dental therapy unit on the school grounds.
