The following Ministers today welcomed the appointment of Grahame Searle as the Director General of the Department of Communities:
- Minister for Child Protection; Women's Interests; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Community Services;
- Minister for Housing; Veterans Issues; Youth
- Minister for Disability Services;
- Minister for Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering; and
- Minister for Regional Development.
Mr Searle has been appointed for a two-year period following the approval of the appointment by Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, Governor of Western Australia.
Mr Searle's role will be critical in leading the new department to deliver integrated services and achieve better outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
Mr Searle has been the Acting Director General since the department was established on July 1, 2017. Immediately before this he led reforms in regional and remote Aboriginal communities as the State Reform Leader. Prior to this he was a long-term director general of the former Department of Housing.
