- $23 million towards dual carriageway upgrade of Marmion Avenue to Yanchep
- Last remaining 11km of single carriageway on Marmion Avenue to become four lanes
- Project to complement future METRONET rail line to Yanchep, servicing key growth suburbs and creating jobs
The McGowan Government will contribute $23 million towards upgrading the last remaining single-lane section of Marmion Avenue to Yanchep.
Funding for the road duplication between Camborne Parkway in Butler to Yanchep Beach Road in Yanchep was a key election commitment to ease congestion and create jobs.
The $23 million will be provided to the City of Wanneroo, which will carry out the road upgrade subject to council approving acceptance of the funding.
Design and planning works are set to be undertaken this year, with construction set to start in 2018 and completion in 2020.
The four-lane upgrade of Marmion Avenue is part of several projects aimed at catering for the population growth in the northern suburbs.
The State Government is planning for the METRONET rail extension to Yanchep, investing $146 million for major upgrades to Wanneroo Road and recently opened the Mitchell Freeway extension to Hester Avenue.
