Environment Minister Jim McGinty says he still has some serious concerns about the visual impact of a proposed hard rock quarry east of Mundijong.

Mr McGinty, who earlier this week visited the site with representatives of the company proposing the quarry, said he had decided to refer the matter back to the Environmental Protection Authority for a further report on the possible visual pollution caused by the proposal.

"The `scars' already evident on the Darling Scarp which have resulted from hard rock quarries are a reminder of the aesthetic impact these type of developments can have," Mr McGinty said.

"Before determining the appeals relating to the proposal, I think it is essential that more consideration be given to the issue of visual pollution."
