Productivity and Labour Relations Minister Yvonne Henderson has called on the Opposition to provide a complete list of the permanent public servants they are planning to axe.
Mrs Henderson said the Liberals had placed a question mark over the futures and careers of thousands of loyal and hard-working public servants.
"The Opposition's announced hit list of 25 senior public servants is just the tip of the iceberg - it is clearly targeting at least 2,000," she said.
"The Opposition is giving two clear messages - there will be a political purge of the public service, and services will be cut.
"Both mean job losses, despite Opposition denials. You cannot undertake a major cost-cutting program in the public sector without thinning the ranks."
Mrs Henderson said the Liberals had said they would start cost-cutting in education and health, two labour-intensive areas representing about half the budget.
"It follows that jobs will go - you cannot have specifically-trained Government employees sitting around doing nothing when the services they provide are cut.
"In the end, it is the public who suffer.
"Families will be hit with big tax increases to fund Liberal promises and at the same time, Government services to ordinary Western Australian families will be cut back.
"They will be paying more, but getting less."
