Nine top exporters have been named in the Western Australian Industry and Export Awards for 1992.

They were honoured last night at a gala dinner at Perth's Hyatt Regency Hotel hosted by Premier Carmen Lawrence.

Dr Lawrence paid tribute to all entrants for achieving excellence in their respective fields in difficult economic times.

"They provide thousands of jobs, innovative ideas, brilliant marketing, excellent labour relations, high technical standards and the wealth needed to sustain our standard of living," the Premier said.

"These and other awards will help the community to better appreciate the importance of primary producers, manufacturers and service industries which are responsible for the drive, vision and challenge to secure our economic future."

The winners were chosen from 32 finalists selected from almost 200 nominations.
