Resignation of Health Minister Keith Wilson

    13/11/1992 12:00 AM

Premier Carmen Lawrence today accepted the resignation of Keith Wilson as Minister for Health.

Mr Wilson tendered his resignation this morning after informing his Cabinet colleagues yesterday.

"Mr Wilson told Cabinet of his personal frustration over long-running Commonwealth-State negotiations on the health system," Dr Lawrence said.

"This frustration, combined with a desire to spend more time serving his electorate prior to the next election, led him to a position where he believed it would be more constructive for someone else to tackle the issues of the health portfolio.

"The hallmark of Mr Wilson's term as one of the longest-serving Health Ministers in Australia has been the commitment, compassion and diligence with which he approached his responsibilities.

"It was with great regret that this morning I agreed to accept his resignation," Dr Lawrence said.
