Agriculture Minister Ernie Bridge has advised potato growers that the Potato Marketing Authority will remain fully operational until such time as the Potato Marketing Act is changed by the Parliament.
"It is important that growers realise no immediate change has occurred, and the Authority still has all of its usual functions and powers," he said.
"It continues to determine the orderly licensing, pricing and marketing of potatoes."
Mr Bridge said he was concerned that some growers incorrectly believed the Authority's functions had ceased.
"This has led to uncertainty and confusion amongst growers, and it is important such misconceptions are addressed and growers are kept fully informed," he said.
