A Western Australian Water Authority project to extend sewerage facilities at Jurien is expected to help boost the local tourist industry.
It will also promote further development in the northern coastal town.
Water Resources Minister Ernie Bridge said $180,000 would be spent in the 1992-93 financial year on a main sewer extension to serve the town's caravan park.
He said the extension was a vital first step in the Shire of Dandaragan's efforts to encourage future subdivision and development in Jurien's commercial and residential areas.
"Initially the extension of the main sewer to the caravan park will assist the shire in its efforts to redevelop the caravan park to a standard more attractive to tourists," Mr Bridge said.
The work would be carried out by the Authority's Mid-West region based at Northam.
