A Western Australian Minister will give the keynote address at a Western Australian food and wine promotion in Surabaya tomorrow.
The promotion is part of the Australia Indonesia Business Council Joint Meeting and Conference which runs until October 28.
Minister assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment, Gordon Hill, said the promotion was being hosted by the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the WA chapter of the Australia Indonesia Business Council.
He said the chamber was taking a trade delegation to Surabaya for the conference.
The Federal Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce, Senator John Button, would attend the conference.
Mr Hill said 90 guests were expected to attend the lunch at which food and beverages provided by Activate Trading, Premier Exports and Mulataga Aquaculture would be served. A chef from the Perth Hyatt Regency Hotel would prepare food for the lunch.
"The promotion will give the Western Australian delegates the opportunity to mix with Surabayan business leaders to promote their products and encourage trade," Mr Hill said.
"I will be promoting WA and, in particular, the Into Asia trade and investment conference to be held in Perth next month.
"This is the first industry-led business delegation from WA since we signed a Sister-state province agreement with Surabaya in April 1990.
"It reciprocates a visit made by a Surabayan delegation last November."
Delegates would come from the services, food processing, manufacturing, engineering and agriculture sectors.
