North-West Minister Ernie Bridge today announced the appointment of Mr Graeme Lohman as Wyndham facilitator to work with the Wyndham development committee.
Establishment of the committee and the position of facilitator were key recommendations of the Wyndham Watershed Report, which identified the need for a co-ordinated effort in developing economic and social initiatives.
Mr Lohman has extensive experience in the retail area and has held senior management positions with Woolworths and David Jones. He also has had experience in small business as proprietor of his own retail business.
Mr Bridge said the combination of the committee and facilitator would help steer Wyndham to a new era of economic and social development.
"The committee is already working on a number of projects including fishing, tourism and horticulture, and has proved effective in representing the town on a number of issues at both local and State Government level," he said.
"The appointment of a facilitator will consolidate that work and help maximise new initiatives and opportunities for Wyndham."
The position is being jointly funded by Joorook Ngarni and the State Government, with housing and administrative support provided by the Shire of Wyndham/East Kimberley.
