Agriculture Minister Ernie Bridge today presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Royal Agriculture Society's Agricultural Educators Foundation.
The RAS Agricultural Educators Foundation - whose members include teachers, farmers and industry representatives - is an independent fund-raising body which promotes and encourages agricultural learning.
Its aim is to build a better agricultural industry through the education of school children.
Mr Bridge congratulated the foundation on its activities in helping with the development of school curriculum and for its efforts to gain corporate support.
He commended the foundation and the teachers who contributed their knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to the education of young Australians to help make the learning process more relevant and interesting.
"Agriculture will continue to be a prime contributor to both the Western Australian and national economies, and education is recognised as the key to ensuring a vigorous and dynamic agricultural sector," he said.
"The work of the foundation reminds us that education should not only impart practical skills and knowledge but also stimulate development of new ideas and practical innovations.
"I am pleased that the Government is able to join with industry to support this important initiative."
