Binnu farmer Viv Carson has been named the Royal Agricultural Society 1992 Rural Achiever of the Year.
Mr Carson was presented with the award by Agriculture Minister Ernie Bridge at a function in Perth this evening.
Mr Bridge said Mr Carson was nominated by the Binnu Ajana branch of the Western Australian Farmers' Federation and other community members.
"Through his long-standing involvement with WAFF, Mr Carson has made a valuable contribution to the lupin industry," he said.
"He has served on a number of Government and industry committees, and has been a keen promoter of lupins for human consumption.
"While his list of industry achievements is long, he has also developed several areas of new farms and has played an active role in his local community.
"Mr Carson is an outstanding example to the industry, and it is very appropriate that his tireless commitment to the State is acknowledged by this award."
