The organisational structure of SECWA has been expanded to include a fifth associate commissioner.
Fuel and Energy Minister Geoff Gallop said today that Mr Dwane Buckland had been appointed to SECWA's board of commissioners for a three-year term.
The 53-year-old corporate consultant/director and vice chairman of the West Coast Eagles was associated with Metro Industries Limited for many years.
Mr Buckland joined Metro Industries in 1972 and was the company's managing director and chief executive officer from 1984 until 1990.
He currently holds positions on the boards of Gold Corporation, Specialised Welding Pty Ltd, Modern Industries Pty Ltd and the Catherine McCauley Family Centre. He is also a Trustee of the Catholic Education Commission Funds.
"I am delighted that Mr Buckland has agreed to accept the position on SECWA's board," Dr Gallop said.
"He is joining the board at a time when key decisions are being taken to restructure SECWA to meet the State's future energy needs."
