A meeting of the State Parliamentary Labor Party caucus will be brought forward to 10am on Tuesday, January 24 for the purpose of electing a new leader and Premier.
Acting Premier Eric Ripper said he had decided to bring the meeting forward from February 2 following discussion with his Cabinet colleagues today.
A second caucus meeting will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 31 to select replacements to fill the two vacant Cabinet positions.
Mr Ripper said this would provide time for the new leader to play a role in the selection of his or her cabinet.
