A project to upgrade a section of the York-Merredin Road between Quairading and Bruce Rock has commenced, Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced.
Ms MacTiernan said a combined Shire of Bruce Rock and Main Roads workforce would deliver the works at an estimated cost of $1.55million.
“As with previous work delivered in the last two years, it is proposed to utilise the Shire of Bruce Rock and supplement it with Main Roads private plant delivery arrangements for this project,” she said.
“This method has been selected to optimise the use of local plant and equipment and encourage the development of improved delivery skills to local government.”
The works will improve the safety of the Kwolyin curves and treat narrow seal sections at Eujinyn, just west of Bruce Rock.
Ms MacTiernan said Main Roads is delivering this very important project after extensive community consultation to determine the needs of the local community.
The works are due to be completed in April 2006.
