Environment Minister Judy Edwards today welcomed an independent review into the State Government’s management of health concerns over the Brookdale liquid waste treatment facility.
“The review clearly showed the Gallop Government handled the health concerns of residents competently and had appropriately communicated to them the health and environmental surveys and studies the Government had undertaken,” Dr Edwards said.
“It also found there was a need to continue to talk with the community over the plant’s decommissioning but no longer any need for further health surveys.”
Dr Edwards thanked Professor Charles Watson, chair of the newly formed Environmental Health Foundation and his team members, as well as Professor Brian Priestly at Monash University, for their work.
