Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced that proposals have been received from three consortia, keen to design and build Western Australia’s single largest road project - the New Perth-Bunbury Highway.
“We always knew that a project of this nature would attract the very best from industry and I am pleased to say that is exactly the result we have achieved,” Ms MacTiernan said.
“We have three very strong consortia that have seized the opportunity to join Main Roads in an alliance to create a new gateway to the Peel and South-West regions.”
The consortia bidding are Gateway Alliance; PeelLink; and SouthernGateway Consortium.
The companies comprising each consortium are listed below.
“The teams comprise some of Australia’s leading design and construction companies, which draw on both national experience and local expertise,” the Minister said.
“Main Roads is currently assessing the proposals, which closed last Thursday, and will undertake evaluations and face-to-face workshops to select the preferred proponent by the end of the year.
“Main Roads will then work with our industry partner to finalise the alliance agreement by February 2006 and establish the management and project teams responsible for delivering this massive project.
“This program will enable the alliance to complete all work necessary to allow construction activity to commence on-site in November 2006.
“The State Government believes that this project has a unique opportunity to provide real economic benefit, impetus for regional development and enhancement of community lifestyle.
“We look forward to welcoming our industry partner and together building a world class facility."
