A contract has been awarded to refurbish two bridges in WA’s Wheatbelt North Region.
One of the bridges is located over the Brockman River on Chittering Valley Road in the Shire of Chittering, the other bridge is located over Toodyay Brook on Wattening Road in the Shire of Toodyay.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan today announced that Densford Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to refurbish the bridges at a cost of $460,000.
“The works will involve bridge refurbishment, including the construction of reinforced concrete overlays, guardrail upgrade and other routine maintenance,” Ms MacTiernan said.
“The works to these bridges will lower maintenance costs, improve the serviceability and increase safety to motorists using the bridges.”
Work on the bridges is scheduled to commence in October 2005 with completion expected by March 2006.
The project will be managed by Main Roads Western Australia Wheatbelt North Region.
