Weary business travellers arriving in the UK are being ferried to and from their homes and hotel rooms by 160 new people movers featuring pictures of Western Australian icons as part of a $2.4million tourism marketing blitz by the State Government.

Tourism Minister Mark McGowan said the new vans, featuring large colour pictures of Broome camels, whalesharks, dolphins and Cape Leveque, would be out and about on the streets of London for the next four months.

“The vans, which were inspected by State Development Minister Alan Carpenter during his visit to London last week, are highly visible and feature the ‘Real Thing’ campaign,” Mr McGowan said.

“This is part of our $91million campaign to market WA to the world and create more jobs and opportunities for locals.

“As well as featuring images of WA, the vans will direct people to our very successful tourism website http://westernaustralia.com.”

The promotion is the forerunner to a significant campaign planned for later this year and early 2006.
