A contract, worth more than $1.6million, has been awarded for the construction of the first public housing singles development within the City of Joondalup.
Housing and Works Minister Francis Logan said the Midland-based company, Perum Building and Construction Pty Ltd, would build 13 one-bedroom units in Admiral Grove in Heathridge.
Work is expected to be completed by March, 2006.
Mr Logan said the units would provide much needed affordable housing for low income and single people in the northern suburbs.
“The department currently has more than 200 single people waiting for accommodation in this area,” he said.
“Many have been waiting for housing for several years.”
“I am pleased this complex will enable the department to better respond to the housing needs of the local community.”
