Agriculture Minister Kim Chance has criticised the National Party for failing to send a representative to the Budget Estimates hearings for Agriculture, the Mid-West and the Wheatbelt.
Mr Chance said the fact that no National Party members attended the session demonstrated their lack of interest in regional Western Australians and the issues they faced.
“I am amazed that a party that claims to support country interests could not even be bothered to show up at the estimates hearing,” he said.
The Minister said the Gallop Government would always ensure regional WA received its fair share.
“It is one thing to grandstand on the one-vote-one-value issue, but what value are country people getting from representatives who do not bother to show up for one of the most important opportunities to put searching questions to the Government?” he asked.
