Premier Geoff Gallop will meet Australian Nursing Federation State Secretary, Mark Olson, this evening.
Dr Gallop said he expected Mr Olsen to now call off next Wednesday’s planned strike action by nurses in public hospitals.
The Premier said he would not negotiate a pay deal but would reassure Mr Olson that the Government’s $162million pay and conditions offer was still on the table and that negotiations would continue after the State election on February 26.
“I’ve consistently maintained it is not appropriate to negotiate a pay deal during an election campaign and this remains my position,” Dr Gallop said.
