A Gallop Government initiative with TAB Sportsbet will see the State’s profits from betting on the Tsunami Appeal Charity Cricket Match today added to the appeal.
Sports Minister Bob Kucera said Racing and Wagering WA and the Department of Sport and Recreation would donate their share of the profits, adding to the $2million already pledged by the State Government.
Mr Kucera said the gesture was a great opportunity for Western Australian sports fans to show their solidarity with the devastated Asian communities.
“Cricket is an international language we have in common with many people in the areas affected by this tragedy,” he said.
“The sport binds us all together and this is an excellent way for cricket fans to show their compassion and build on our relationship with our region.
“I therefore urge all fans to support the initiative.”
TAB Sportsbet would take bets on the MCG game up until its starts.
