Peel and the South-West Minister Bob Kucera today presented $25,000 to the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale to assist with detailed planning for Jarrahdale Heritage Park.

The funding is on top of more than $435,000 already allocated by the State and Federal Governments towards the planning and development of this major heritage and tourism site.

“As it develops, the Jarrahdale Heritage Park has the potential to be a high-impact tourism attraction for the Peel region and provide significant employment opportunities,” Mr Kucera said.

“It will also act as a catalyst for people to visit other nearby attractions.”

The Minister said the latest round of funding would support the development of detailed engineering plans for traffic, parking, drainage, essential services, park infrastructure and maintenance.

Further studies would include land management and interpretation, Aboriginal, ethnographic and archaeological studies and project viability.

“With the support of the State Government via the Peel Development Commission, the National Trust and others, the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale is on track to delivering this important heritage and tourism site,” Mr Kucera said.
