Three new members have been appointed to the Rottnest Island Board, Tourism Minister Bob Kucera announced today.
Mr Rob McDonald, Mr Bill Gillson and Ms Susan Murphy will take up their board positions from today (Tuesday).
They will fill the position left vacant by the resignations of the chairperson, Jenny Archibald, in March this year, Ms Rachael Roberts and Mr Angas Hopkins, who have both completed their three-year appointment to the board.
Mr Kucera thanked all three past board members for their work.
Mr McDonald, who has a financial, human resources and change management background, Mr Gillson, who has worked on projects involving the long-term sustainability and commercial viability of the Great Barrier Reef and Ms Murphy, a former Telstra Businesswoman of the Year and engineer with Clough Ltd, have all been appointed for three years.
“The new board members have been appointed with a view to balancing a more commercial attitude with the need to protect the Island’s unique natural environment,” the Minister said.
“They will help drive change in this period of repositioning the island with $20million in State Government funding to enable a sustainable long-term future.”
