Four Mid-West pastoral stations: Yallalong, Pinegrove, Bullardoo and Woolgorong, are now incorporated within the Shire of Murchison.

Local Government Minister Tom Stephens said new boundaries for the Mid-West Shires of Murchison, Northampton and Mullewa came into effect on July 1.

Before the boundary change, Yallalong straddled the Shire of Northampton/Murchison boundary and Pinegrove, Bullardoo and Woolgorong Stations, which are north of the vermin-proof fence, were within the Shire of Mullewa.

“The stations, which were at the extremities of the Northampton and Mullewa Shires, will be better served by their inclusion within the Shire of Murchison,” Mr Stephens said.

“Three of the station owners already have a close association with the Shire of Murchison.”

The Minister said the Shire of Murchison had consulted extensively with the other local governments and the station owners before proposing the change.

At a recent meeting at Woolgorong Station, to which all affected station owners and shires were invited, there was unanimous support for the change.
