Tourism Minister Bob Kucera has named two new members for the Western Australian Tourism Commission - Kate Lamont and Dr David Smith.
Mr Kucera said the appointment of Ms Lamont and Dr Smith would further diversify the expertise on the commission’s board.
“It is an exciting time for tourism in WA and these new appointments provide further impetus and enhance our collaborative efforts with the tourism industry,” the Minister said.
Ms Lamont is the proprietor of Lamont’s East Perth, Swan Valley and Margaret River and brings over 20 years’ experience in the wine and food industry to the commission. Her appointment provides important hospitality sector representation on the board.
Dr Smith is the managing director of Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd and has 25 years’ experience in the mining and manufacturing industries. Previously, he held the roles of general manager for Pacific Coal’s Tarong Operations and managing director of Rossing Uranium in Namibia.
Ms Lamont and Dr Smith will join current board members Alan Mulgrew (chair), Laurie O’Meara (deputy chair), Janet Holmes � Court, Helen Creed, Sonja Mitchell, Michael Monaghan and Anthony Quahe.
