Football in the Gascoyne will receive a $2,000 boost in funding from the State Government’s Sports Lottery Fund Country Package.
Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore announced the grant today.
Mr Moore said the funding would help the Gascoyne Football Association with its development plan for 2001.
The plan covered a range of aspects for the sport, including the accreditation of coaches and umpires, a focus on player safety and well-being and representation of members at State and local levels.
“I am delighted that the State Government has been able to help in this way,” the Minister said.
“We are committed to helping people in regional Western Australia get the most possible from their sport and recreation opportunities.
“These programs will help improve the overall standard of sport for members and encourage wider participation from the community.
“This is what this sort of funding is all about - helping country people to maximise their sport and recreation opportunities.”
The Sports Lottery Fund Country Package is administered by Sport and Recreation Way2Go.
