Premier Richard Court has welcomed the recommendations of a Federal Senate Committee report regarding the future of the Fremantle Artillery Barracks.
Mr Court said the report’s recommendations were consistent with positive discussions which had already taken place between the State and Federal Governments.
The Inquiry into the Disposal of Defence Properties Report, tabled yesterday in the Senate, recommended that the Artillery Barracks be gifted to Western Australia.
The recommendations will now be considered by the Commonwealth.
“Given the significance of the Artillery Barracks to Western Australians and the positive discussions so far, I am sure the Federal Government will consider the report’s recommendations as quickly as possible,” the Premier said.
