Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore has announced a $2,600 grant to help touch football in the Kimberley.

The grant is from the Sports Lottery Fund Country Package.

The money will help TouchWest Kimberley run a development program which is seeking to improve the sport in the region and increase participation.

Components of the program include coach accreditation, skill development clinics and education courses.

Mr Moore said that the program would reach more than 200 people of all ages throughout the region.

“The Government knows how important sport is in country areas,” he said.

“We want to make sure that people can make the most of their sporting and recreational opportunities.

“Through development programs like these, regional areas can supply many of their own needs and get more from their sport.”
