The Esperance Bay Yacht Club and the Esperance Goldfields Surf Life Saving Club are to benefit from State Government grants.

Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore announced the grants from the Sports Lottery Fund Country Package today.

Mr Moore said the Esperance Bay Yacht Club would get $1,500 to develop a racing skills program for about 30 junior sailors to be held later this month.

The Esperance Goldfields Surf Life Saving Club would get $1,540 which would go towards the cost of running a development camp in Bremer Bay.

The Minister said he was delighted that the State Government had been able to help so many people from all over the Goldfields and Albany and Denmark.

“This investment by the State Government in the sporting future of these young sailors and life savers underlines our support for sport in regional Western Australia,” he said.

“Funding such as this from the Sport Lottery Fund Country Package has an immediate impact.

“It also creates the setting in which the future development of sports can be addressed with long-term benefits to the region.”

The Sports Lottery Fund Country Package is a Ministry of Sport and Recreation initiative.
