Sport and Recreation Minister Norman Moore has announced $11,000 in grants for sport and recreation in the Mid-West.
The grants, from the Sports Lottery Fund Country Package, are:
$6000 to the Mid-West Regional Cricket Board to help with the development of cricket for the 2000/2001 season, including recruiting and retaining umpires, identifying talent and promoting cricket in the region;
$4500 to the Geraldton Mid-West Sports Federation to help employ a part-time administration officer; and -
$500 to the Geraldton Junior Badminton Committee to help 40 of Geraldton’s most talented young badminton players compete in the Higgs Trophy state-wide tournament in Bunbury.
“I am delighted that the State Government has been able to help these groups in the Mid-West,” Mr Moore said.
“This funding underlines the State Government’s support for sport in Western Australia.
“It allows groups in regional areas to develop tomorrow’s champions and also helps those who just want enjoy and take part in sport.”
The Sports Lottery Fund Country Package is a Ministry of Sport and Recreation initiative.
