Lands Minister Doug Shave today launched the start of civil works at the prestigious Minim Cove Estate in Mosman Park.

Mr Shave said the Minim Cove project was an excellent example of LandCorp's rehabilitation of a contaminated site.

"LandCorp began the complex job of restoring Minim Cove to environmental good health in 1995 and although this work often proved difficult, it has been a job worth doing," he said.

“One of Perth's most spectacular sites can now offer land for sale while at the same time providing the community with excellent recreation areas.

"With the comprehensive clean-up complete, civil works are well underway and blocks in Stage One are being offered for sale.

"The civil works will see the installation of underground services including sewerage, drains, water, gas, power and telecommunications. Retaining walls for each lot and roads are also being built.

"Dual use paths from the lookout to the river foreshore will make Minim Cove an attractive estate that is accessible to everyone.”

Local artists will be commissioned to produce public art throughout the estate.

"LandCorp and the Mosman Park Community Arts Foundation have developed a public art program designed to promote the area's strong links with the river and natural environment,” Mr Shave said.

“The artwork will also recognise the historical and cultural links of the estate to its Aboriginal and European past.”
