Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave has approved an application from the Busselton Chamber of Commerce for Sunday trading in Busselton.

“Shops in Busselton will now be able to trade between 11am and 4pm on Sundays,” Mr Shave said.

“This complements public holiday trading already in place in Busselton.

“The application to the Ministry of Fair Trading was made to better cater for tourism demand in Busselton.

“The application was supported by the Shire of Busselton and was consistent with the Government's policy of accepting the recommendation of regional local government authorities on the issue of trading hours.”

Applications for extended trading hours must show that there has been appropriate consultation with local trader organisations, tourism interests and local members of State Parliament.

All views expressed must be taken into consideration before a decision is made.

Applications must also ensure that all traders know that they have the discretion to open or close if trading hours are extended.
