Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave has rejected completely claims that he impeded an investigation into real estate agents.
Mr Shave said he hoped the balancing evidence today by the witness at the centre of the allegations would receive equal media coverage.
“The allegation made in The West Australian newspaper that I blocked an investigation into the activities of a real estate agent are untrue,” he said.
“My understanding of the matter is that it was properly investigated and Mr Wallace was fully aware of the outcome.
“I understand in evidence to the Gunning Inquiry today that Mr Wallace admitted, under cross examination, that the investigation was completed.
“I certainly hope all parties interested in this matter will be able to be provided with that important piece of evidence.”
Mr Shave said the Gunning Inquiry was an important process for many investors and all allegations needed to be balanced with conflicting evidence to provide an accurate account of events.
