The Ministry of Fair Trading will be a new exhibitor at the Carnarvon Business Expo 2000 from May 25-27.
Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave said the expo was expected to attract a large number of exhibitors and several thousand people.
“The expo is a good opportunity to provide fair trading information, resources and support to people and businesses in the Gascoyne region and, just as importantly, get feed-back from them on their needs,” Mr Shave said.
“After the recent floods the Ministry received many requests from the region for information and advice about insurance claims and building repairs.
“A free Fair Trading kit available at the expo will include hints and information on home repairs, insurance and other matters.”
Local Member of Parliament Rod Sweetman welcomed Fair Trading’s participation in the Carnarvon Expo.
“It’s important for people in regional areas to be able to discuss Fair Trading issues with Ministry staff, find out what resources are available and how they can use them,” Mr Sweetman said.
The Minister said that as well as participating in events such as the Expo, Fair Trading was using technology to make its services as accessible as possible.
“The Ministry’s interactive web site at http://www.fairtrading.wa.gov.au and free online magazine, Fair Bytes, are very useful to people in regional areas,” he said.
“They offer up-to-date information and resources 24 hours a day with no waiting or delay.”
