Strong performance by Government land agency

Lands Minister Doug Shave has announced another strong performance by LandCorp, the Government’s land development agency.

“LandCorp’s after tax profit of $13.1 million for the first six months of the current financial year was almost double its target of $6.6million,” Mr Shave said.

“LandCorp is on track to deliver tax and dividends to the Government of more than $60 million for the full 1999/2000 year and this strong performance will benefit the whole community,” he said.

LandCorp profits were used to help fund other areas, including health, education and emergency services and its involvement in land and infrastructure projects made a major contribution to the State’s economy.

During the past year, new project opportunities had been identified or secured to meet the increasing demand for industrial land in Perth and regional areas.

“LandCorp’s recent win of an Urban Development Institute of Australia national awards is evidence of the Government’s commitment to giving regional Western Australia access to the same range of lifestyles available in Perth,” Mr Shave said.
“Bunbury’s Marlston Hill project deservedly won the Urban Renewal category and LandCorp is bringing the same high standards to projects in Carnarvon, Geraldton and Exmouth.”
