The inaugural Ministry of Fair Trading Customer Service award to the home building industry was presented last night.
Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave presented the award to Webb and Brown Neaves Pty Ltd at the Master Builders’ Association Housing Excellence awards presentation in Perth.
“The company has been a leader in setting a new customer service benchmark in the home building sector,” Mr Shave said.
“It’s an example of a company knowing that customer service isn’t just about satisfying client needs but about exceeding expectations.
“In business the most important person is the customer. Businesses that recognise this and support fair trading principles win a reputation which pays commercial dividends.”
The new award was judged on nine criteria, including the standard of product and service information, fact to face service, and attention to complaint handling.
“Overall, WA’s home building industry has a good reputation for customer service,” Mr Shave said.
“The Government wants to help build on this reputation. This award will strengthen customer service focus by recognising companies that are leaders in this vital area.”
The judging panel surveyed customers to assess their views on how smoothly their housing projects had gone and whether any problems were well resolved.
The judges included a former builder and representatives of the WA Consumers’ Association and the Real Institute of Western Australia.
