Minister announces Easter/Anzac shopping hours
19/02/2000 6:30 AM
Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave has announced retail trading hours in the Perth metropolitan area over the Easter/Anzac Day period.
“Because Easter and Anzac Day coincide this year the hours have been set to provide a balance between having shops open and staff being able to enjoy a break,” Mr Shave said.
“The arrangements mean there will be a reduction in shopping hours outside the public holidays and are consistent with previous years,” Mr Shave said.
Retailers with small and special shops permits will be able to trade outside the hours for general retail stores.
The hours do not apply to motor vehicle dealers or to general retail shops in Rockingham and Yanchep/Two Rocks where specific extended trading orders will apply.
Outside Perth local government authorities can apply to have the shopping hours they feel best serve their community’s needs.
The general retail shopping hours for the Perth metropolitan area are:
Thursday April 20 Late night trading for all shops including Perth
and Fremantle tourism precincts
Friday April 21 Good Friday public holiday Closed
Saturday April 22 No change open 8am –5pm
Sunday April 23 Perth/Fremantle tourism
Precincts Noon – 6pm
Monday April 24 Public Holiday Closed
Tuesday April 25 Public Holiday Closed
