    Communication between community agencies working in alcohol and drug treatment and education will be improved by today’s launch of a website by the Minister Responsible for WA Drug Abuse Strategy, Rhonda Parker.

    The site has been set up by the Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA) - a State-wide umbrella group for 50 organisations in the field.

    “The site will allow an efficient access to information for the organisations and individuals around the State working in this important field,” Mrs Parker said.

    “It will help them identify key people, organisations and information that supports them in their work and will be of particular benefit to the regional areas of the State.”

    The website includes:
    • an extensive list of publications including prevention, treatment, education, law enforcement and policy;
    • news and events;
    • links to other websites dealing with drug issues; and -
    • information about the organisations in WANADA.

    Mrs Parker said the website will also contain an AOD (Alcohol and other Drugs) Link that will enable WANADA to circulate information and e-mails to members.

    “It will also provide a link between the 11 Community Drug Service Teams and the treatment agencies around the State,” she said.

    “This service will save time and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of service providers in their efforts to address the problem of drug abuse with individuals, families and in the community.”

    The website address is http://www.wanada.org.au
